Inera does not delete the references you upload to Edifix, but you can use the “Delete” button to delete your jobs and references based on the aging strategy of your choosing.
ⓘ To delete an Edifix job, go to Account > Previous Jobs. The Delete button for each job is located at the far right.
You can delete a job immediately, or delete jobs periodically. Once deleted, the uploaded references are gone from our systems. You can also choose to keep and return to past jobs, on a per-job basis, to find references you have already processed.
We do keep database backups for disaster recovery, but these backups are aged out of existence.
We do reserve the right to use data that you have not deleted for statistical, analysis, and operational purposes, including system tuning and system optimization or improvement. When we do this, our analyses are never correlated to specific users. No one outside Inera has access to this data.
If you nevertheless do not wish your data to be used, you can delete your Edifix jobs immediately after downloading your results. Any uploaded references in a deleted job are no longer available to Inera for any purpose, including our test processes.
When you use Edifix's Crossref and PubMed Linking options, Edifix sends your references to those services to obtain a DOI or PMID and corrected metadata. These references are sent one at a time, and are identified to PubMed or Crossref only as coming from Inera. Thus, these services cannot identify which Edifix customer of Inera has submitted specific references. They also cannot draw any relationship between any set of references and any other, or between any set of references and the Edifix customer who submitted it.
If you nevertheless have concerns about transmitting your references to PubMed or Crossref, you can de-select these options on any Edifix job. If you have concerns about transmitting specific entries in a given reference list, you can submit those entries in a separate job with the PubMed and Crossref options turned off.
