Using RIS

If you intend to import your Edifixed references to a reference management software, you should select (Citation Manager Export Format) as your reference style template to preserve all reference elements.

Then, select the RIS (UTF-8) export format to download and save your reference list as RIS format. Special characters are preserved in UTF-8 format, which is supported by most major reference managers.

Note: If your reference manager does not support UTF-8 encoding, select the "RIS" export format. This uses ASCII-encoding.

What is RIS anyway? 

RIS is a standardized tag format developed by Research Information Systems Inc. to enable citation programs to exchange data. It is supported by most widely used reference management software products.

The different elements of the reference are each identified by a two-character tag name, starting with TY for Reference Type and ending with ER (End of Reference). The following APA6-styled reference:

Note: RIS format only supports fully parsed (in other words, fully structured) references. References that have not been parsed and are listed in gray text will not be included in your exported RIS files.
